I’d like to give a special shout out to Kiki Designs, a gorgeous line of jewelry designed by a Hawaiian artist who lives in LA. Kiki’s newest pieces will be unveiled at the event this weekend! You can find her at booth 114.

If you’re around town this weekend, you should definitely stop by. It’ll be a great chance to pick up some handmade goodies just in time for Mother’s Day, or whatever reason you may have… Tickets are $5 (children under 10 get in for free), but 50% of the ticket sales are going to local charities. Perusing handmade goodies + stimulating the economy + contributing to charitable orgs = time very well spent.

Remember back in grade school, usually around Mother’s or Father’s Day, when Miss Applebaum would make you sit perfectly still in a chair, point a bright light at your face, and trace the outline of your profile on a piece of paper as it was projected on the wall behind you? Anyone? No?…Eh, well, maybe it was just me and the Victorians.

Anyhoo, ReadyMade has a clever new spin on the old design. Instead of blasting a light at some unsuspecting person’s (or animal’s, or inanimate object’s) face, all you need is a photograph with a “well-defined” subject, an exact-o knife or extra snazzy pair of scissors, some colored paper and a frame, et voila! Of course you don’t *have* to give your creations to Mom or Dad. You can just feel fancy hanging ’em around your very own, very grown-up apartment.
